Speeding
17th of September, 2025
It was great to be joined by a number of residents at the Parish Council last Monday for a constructive meeting. We were also joined by our local PCSO Naz Patel.
One of the issues raised was speeding through the village. We have recently had a Speed Indicator Device (SpID) on Stonegate Lane, and one up the hill on Preston Rd, but they were only temporary. We are going to investigate how difficult it is to establish a more permanent one to record speed over a longer period.
It was also commented that speed in the centre of the village, particularly on Church Street, seems to have worsened over recent months.
If you have concerns about speeding in any part of the village, we would encourage you to record them on the Lancashire Constabulary Road Safety portal. These reports are then evaluated by a multi-agency team that includes Police, Fire, LCC, Highways, Traffic Managers and specialists who cover the accident statistics. The locations are then set for various enforcement actions by the Police, traffic surveys or Community Road Watch.
You can access the portal here - https://lancsroadsafety.co.uk/submit-concern/
Our next meeting is on October 20th in St Peter and Paul Parish Centre on Stydd Lane. There is a public participation item on the agenda for you to raise any area of concern with your Parish Council.
